How to Choose a Recording App? Judge the True Capabilities of Speech-to-Text Recording Apps via 5 Core Features
Don't pick a speech-to-text app by transcription alone. Judge it by accuracy, free quota, scenario fit, post-processing, and data reliability.
Many people only check whether a recording app supports speech-to-text before use, only to find unsatisfying transcription quality and impractical features afterwards. To pick a qualified speech-to-text recording app, focus on five core capabilities to boost your work efficiency.
First, transcription accuracy is non-negotiable. Many ordinary apps achieve less than 80% accuracy in noisy environments; revising transcripts costs more time than note-taking manually. Professional speech-to-text recording apps can reach up to 98% accuracy for Mandarin, automatically removing filler words like "um" and "ah" as well as pause noise, delivering clean transcripts requiring minimal editing. MeetingMinutes performs well in this aspect, capturing speeches clearly even in large conference rooms for distant speakers.
Second, watch out for free usage quotas. Many apps advertise free services yet only offer dozens of minutes monthly, which runs out quickly after merely several meetings. Generous tools provide ample free time: registered MeetingMinutes users get 900 free recording minutes each month, while unregistered users receive 300 minutes, sufficient for daily office scenarios.
Third, verify adaptability to diverse scenarios. Can it recognize dialects from clients? Distinguish different speakers during group discussions? Professional apps support recognition of over 20 dialects and automatically label each speaker's remarks without manual sorting.
Fourth, consider post-transcription efficiency. A quality recording app delivers more than plain text. It assists content sorting by auto-generating meeting minutes, extracting key action items, and locating audio clips through keyword search. MeetingMinutes comes with more than 50 industry templates to generate first drafts instantly once meetings wrap up.
Fifth, prioritize data reliability. Cloud backup, offline recording and cross-device synchronization are essential. Otherwise, records may disappear after switching phones or fail without Wi-Fi in meeting rooms.
Do not select recording apps merely based on download volumes. Following the above criteria helps you avoid poor options. If you frequently attend meetings and organize records, you may try MeetingMinutes, equipped with comprehensive functions and reasonable free quotas.
No Internet During Field Interviews? This Recording App Works Offline
Journalists and field researchers often lose recordings with weak networks. MeetingMinutes supports full offline recording and auto cloud sync when you are back online.
Journalists, researchers and client representatives all share one headache: poor internet access at critical moments.
When conducting factory visits, outdoor interviews or meetings in remote locations, you may pull out your phone to record only to find weak or zero network signals. Even if you manage to finish recording, you constantly worry whether the files can be saved, risking the loss of valuable information.
No internet = can't record? Many people have fallen into this trap.
Many regular recording apps rely heavily on internet connectivity. Under offline or low-signal conditions, they may fail to start recording or cannot upload files afterward. Valuable interview materials and research notes can vanish due to unstable networks, wasting plenty of time and rare opportunities to collect information.
Long field investigations often last an entire day with no guaranteed Wi-Fi. An unreliable recording tool can lead to irreparable losses.
Stable Offline Recording & Automatic Cloud Sync
MeetingMinutes solves this problem perfectly. It supports complete offline recording. Audio files can be safely stored on your device even with no cellular or Wi-Fi connection. Once you regain internet access, recordings will be synced to the cloud automatically to prevent data loss.
It fits closed corporate meetings, outdoor in-depth interviews and field surveys in remote regions.
The app supports extended-duration recording. It operates stably for all-day interviews and lengthy training sessions without unexpected crashes. Text transcripts will be automatically generated after recording, saving hours of playback and manual sorting back at the office.
Registered users receive 900 free recording minutes each month, which meets daily demands for field work. All audio files and transcripts are backed up to the cloud. Simply log in to your account on a new mobile device to access full historical records anytime.
For field workers and interviewers, reliability matters most. Start recording with one tap regardless of network conditions, and enjoy automatic transcription afterward for greater efficiency.
Can't Keep Up With Notes During Meetings? This Voice Recording App Frees Your Hands
Office workers struggle to keep up with meeting notes because speaking is much faster than typing. MeetingMinutes records and transcribes in real time with up to 98% Mandarin accur…
What do office workers fear most about meetings? Eight out of ten people would say: taking meeting notes.
You need to listen to supervisors, join discussions, and frantically jot down key points at the same time. Vital information can slip away in an instant if you lose focus. Later, you stare at incomplete notes and waste extra time asking colleagues for missing details or replaying recordings. Half an hour can easily go to waste.
Why can't you keep up with note-taking?
It's not about your typing speed. Humans naturally speak much faster than they write. People normally talk 150-200 words per minute, while most can only type 60-80 words. When multiple people speak rapidly during meetings, catching every detail becomes nearly impossible.
Let AI take notes for you
MeetingMinutes is built to solve this pain point. Simply tap to start recording within the app once the meeting begins. Speeches will be transcribed into text in real time, far more efficiently than manual note-taking.
Many users worry transcription contains countless errors requiring heavy edits. MeetingMinutes achieves up to 98% recognition accuracy for Mandarin. Its AI automatically removes filler words like "uh" and "ah", redundant remarks and pauses. The generated transcripts are neat and ready for direct use in most cases.
It works reliably even in large meeting rooms and training lectures with long recording distances to capture every comment clearly. Registered users get 900 free recording minutes every month, enough for two hours of meetings daily. iOS premium subscribers enjoy a 7-day free trial to access all features.
Export full written transcripts with one tap once meetings end. No more tedious playback and manual sorting of audio files.
Meetings are meant for discussion and decision-making, not a race to take notes. Leave transcription work to AI so you can fully engage in conversations.
This Tool Helped Our Sales Team Win 40% More Deals Just by Reviewing Client Meetings
Sales teams use MeetingMinutes to review client meetings: stay focused in conversations, let AI organize key points, cut note time, and improve close rates.
Every salesperson knows the struggle: you have a one-hour conversation with a prospect, and at the time, you're sure you've got it all locked in your head. But when you sit down back at the office to write up your follow-up notes, the details start to blur. What exactly was the client's top priority? What was the real objection behind their hesitation? What's the smartest angle for your next touchpoint? You end up piecing it together from memory—and too often, the critical details slip through the cracks.
With MeetingMinutes, it's a different game. When you walk into a client meeting, just hit record and stay fully present—no more scrambling to take notes while trying to read the room. On your way back to the office, the AI-generated meeting summary is already waiting for you. Key pain points, underlying concerns, budget range, decision-maker dynamics—all automatically organized and ready to go. You can literally copy and paste it straight into your CRM. Fast, accurate, and effortless.
It's also been a game-changer for managing the team. Before, onboarding new reps meant a lot of shadowing and verbal coaching—which takes time, and new hires still learn slowly. Now, for every major client conversation, we share the recording and AI summary with the whole team. We walk through it together: what landed well, which objections were handled clumsily, whether we caught the client's real signals. Our new reps are ramping up twice as fast as they used to.
Here's the math: before, each client meeting meant about 30 minutes of note-crunching afterward. With 20 meetings a month, that's 10 hours gone. Now, we spend about 5 minutes per meeting just spot-checking the AI summary—roughly 1.5 hours a month total. And the bigger win? With cleaner, more complete client intelligence across the board, our team's close rate has jumped roughly 20%. Sales reps' time belongs in front of clients—not buried in paperwork.
This Tool Turns Case Review Meetings into Actionable Notes—So Doctors Can Spend More Time With Patients
Medical teams use MeetingMinutes for case reviews and conferences, cutting documentation from about 20 hours to 2 hours a month so doctors can focus on patients.
Hospitals are packed with case reviews, academic conferences, and departmental trainings. We used to assign someone to take notes at every single session—then spend even more time after the fact compiling and distributing meeting minutes. The process was slow, prone to gaps, and junior doctors basically had to absorb everything on the fly with their own handwritten notes. Not exactly efficient.
With MeetingMinutes, we just hit record during case discussions, and by the time the meeting wraps, a full, structured summary is already ready. Who proposed which diagnostic approach, where the treatment debates were, what the final consensus was—it's all laid out crystal clear. Every doctor in the department can revisit it anytime. Our junior physicians are picking things up much faster now—no more slogging through scribbled notes to piece things together afterward.
It's been a lifesaver for academic conferences too. Before, I'd be scrambling to write down key points while trying not to miss the speaker's next insight. Now I just record the whole thing, and on the ride back, the AI has already distilled the core takeaways, the latest research highlights, and even the speaker's most quotable lines. It's like having a personal research assistant—my takeaways from every conference have literally doubled.
Here's the before-and-after: our department used to spend about 20 hours a month (across multiple people) just on meeting documentation. Now we're down to about 2 hours for review and quality-checking. That's a 90% reduction in note-taking time—which means more hours redirected back to patient care. Plus, our training repository is building up three times faster than before, and our junior doctors are hitting their stride sooner. In healthcare, every minute counts. When you can save time, you save it for what really matters.

This Tool Saved a Product Manager Drowning in 10 Weekly Meetings—Days Worth of Time
A B2B product manager cut weekly meeting-recap time from about 12 hours to 1.5 hours with MeetingMinutes—about a 95% efficiency gain.
As a B2B product manager, I sit through at least 5 requirement review sessions and 3 user interviews every single week. Back in the day, I'd spend the entire meeting hunched over my notebook, scribbling furiously. Then afterward, I'd block out another 2–3 hours just to organize everything into structured meeting minutes—which usually meant pulling late nights. The worst part? All the details I missed while I was busy writing would come back to haunt me, forcing me to chase down colleagues for clarification.
With MeetingMinutes, I just hit record at the start of every meeting and stay fully engaged in the conversation—no more split attention. Within 5 minutes of wrapping up, I've got a complete, AI-organized summary ready to go: who said what, action items, open debates—all neatly categorized. All I need to do is give it a quick once-over, tweak the formatting, and share it with the team.
Where it really shines, though, is user interviews. Before, I'd be taking notes while trying to keep the conversation flowing, and then spend another hour after the fact reconstructing the session. Now, I just feed the recording into the tool, and the AI instantly extracts the user's core needs, pain points, and suggestions. A 2-hour interview gives me structured, actionable insights in about 10 minutes—ready to drop straight into my PRD.
Do the math: I used to burn roughly 12 hours a week just on meeting recaps. Now? About 1.5 hours—a 95% efficiency gain—essentially giving me back a full day of pure product design time every week. If you're drowning in back-to-back meetings, honestly, give this a try. You owe it to yourself to break free from the busywork.

3.11.9 Update – Smarter Speaker Display: Know Who Said What, at a Glance
Avatars, names, and dialogue all blur together in multi-person meetings? Meeting Minutes 3.11.9 overhauls speaker display—distinct avatars and color labels so you know who said wha…
In multi-person meetings, it's a common frustration: avatars, names, and dialogue all blur together, and when you're scanning through the transcript, you end up squinting at blocks of text trying to figure out “who said that.” It's one of the most frequent pain points we hear from users.
With this update, Meeting Minutes has given the speaker display interface a complete overhaul—making speaker identities clearer, more intuitive, and instantly recognizable.
Visual differentiation is now much stronger. Each speaker gets their own avatar and a distinct color label. Across all views—including the transcript area—every speaker's content block is presented with a consistent theme color and tag. When you're skimming through the record, your eyes can quickly zero in on everything a specific person said, without having to go back and forth trying to match words to faces.
Simply put: less squinting, more clarity. You'll spend less time parsing who's who, and more time actually understanding what was discussed.
3.11.8 Update – Chapter Summaries: Making Long Meeting Recordings Actually Navigable
You know the drill: a two-hour meeting, one long, unbroken recording. When you need to go back and find a specific decis…
You know the drill: a two-hour meeting, one long, unbroken recording. When you need to go back and find a specific decision point, you end up dragging the progress bar back and forth until you're ready to pull your hair out. That's probably the single biggest headache anyone faces when trying to piece together meeting notes afterward.
That's exactly why we built the Chapter Summaries feature in Meeting Minutes.
It automatically analyzes the natural flow of your conversation and splits the recording into logical chapters—each with a one-sentence summary. At a glance, you can see exactly which topics were discussed and what the key takeaways were for each one.
And here's the kicker: every chapter is precisely synced to the recording timeline. Just click on any chapter title, and it jumps you straight to that moment in the audio—with the text and sound playing side by side. Want to double-check a specific detail? No need to scrub through the whole thing from start to finish. Just flip to the right "page," like you're thumbing through a book.
For our users, this means two big things:
First, it saves time. Before, you might spend a good 30 minutes rewinding and relistening just to piece together a one-hour meeting. Now, a quick scan through the chapter summaries gives you the full picture in just a few minutes.
Second, it cuts the anxiety. You no longer have to frantically scribble notes during the meeting, terrified of missing something important—because you know you can always find it back, precisely and effortlessly, whenever you need it.
Chapter Summaries aren't about making your recording shorter. They're about making it searchable, scannable, and genuinely usable. And that's where the real value lies.
3.11.7 Update – Multi-Language Recognition: Breaking Down Barriers, One Meeting at a Time
For teams with international operations, foreign colleagues, or meetings conducted in multiple languages, language barri…
For teams with international operations, foreign colleagues, or meetings conducted in multiple languages, language barriers are often the biggest headache when it comes to taking accurate meeting notes. You can't follow along, you miss half of what's said, and the transcription only supports one language at a time—any one of these is enough to make you want to pull your hair out.
The new multi-language speech recognition feature in this update is built to tackle exactly that.
It supports real-time voice transcription and translation across 70+ languages. Whether it's an all-English cross-border meeting, a Japanese technical seminar, or a bilingual Chinese-English discussion with an international team, the system captures everything with precision and transcribes it into text on the fly. Translation happens in real time during the recording—no need to wait until the meeting ends to process it.
In practice, this means:
You're no longer locked into a single language. When a foreign colleague speaks, the transcription appears simultaneously in text. If you come across supporting materials in a language you don't know, one click translates them into your native language for side-by-side comparison. Meeting notes no longer rely on manual interpretation—the AI automatically organizes and archives multilingual content.
And Chinese-English mixing? No problem. For those common bilingual scenarios where a Mandarin speaker occasionally throws in English jargon, the system handles the switching smoothly—no gaps, no glitches, no confusion.
For global teams, internationally-facing businesses, and language learners alike, this isn't just a "nice-to-have." It's a feature that genuinely makes multilingual meetings recordable, searchable, and traceable—no matter what language participants speak, everyone walks away with a clear, readable transcript.
3.11.6 Update – Meeting Tags: Give Every Meeting Its Own Keywords, So You Never Have to Scroll and Search Again
You know the scene: the meeting was lively, packed with great discussion—but when you need to find that one specific con…
You know the scene: the meeting was lively, packed with great discussion—but when you need to find that one specific conversation later, you're stuck scrolling through a long, endless list of past meetings. You can't quite remember the project name. The date's a blur. Not even sure who was in the room. So you just start guessing and blindly clicking.
That's exactly the pain point Meeting Tags was built to solve.
You can now add custom tags to each meeting—whether it's a project name (e.g., "Project Alpha Weekly Sync"), a meeting type (e.g., "Requirements Review," "Client Call"), or a priority marker (e.g., "High Priority," "Needs Retrospective"). Tags are completely up to you—just follow whatever makes sense for your team's workflow.
Once tags are in place, finding meetings becomes almost effortless. On the meeting list page, simply click any tag, and every recording tagged with it pops up instantly. Want to revisit every discussion tied to a specific project? One click on that project tag. Need to see all the major decision-making meetings from this week? Just filter by the "Priority" tag.
And here's where it gets even better: tags are deeply linked to the actual meeting content. When you drill down through a tag to find a meeting, the Chapter Summary feature automatically jumps to the relevant discussion sections, with the transcription displayed right alongside. It's a seamless leap from "finding the meeting" to "finding exactly what was said."
For users who regularly review projects, collaborate across departments, or manage a high volume of meeting records, Meeting Tags mean one thing: they transform your meeting log from a chronological timeline into a searchable knowledge base. You're no longer relying on dates and memory to retrieve information—you can pull up every relevant discussion in seconds, using keywords that actually matter. Every conversation truly becomes reusable team knowledge, ready whenever you need it.
MeetingMinutes PPT Generation Feature Experience: Rapid Conversion from Meeting Recordings to Presentations
A client proposal meeting that ended last week gave me a brand-new understanding…
A client proposal meeting that ended last week gave me a brand-new understanding of MeetingMinutes's PPT generation feature.
That solution discussion with the client lasted over two hours, with both sides conducting in-depth conversations on project requirements, implementation paths, timelines, and various other aspects. By the time the meeting ended at six o'clock in the afternoon, the client had requested a finalized proposal PPT first thing the next morning.
In the past, I would have needed at least half a day to organize the meeting recording, extract key points, and create the PPT. That day, I decided to try MeetingMinutes's PPT generation feature. I recorded the entire meeting first, and after the transcription was complete, I selected a "proposal presentation" PPT template and clicked generate.
About ten minutes later, a complete PPT draft was generated. What surprised me was that it didn't simply pile text onto slides—it organized the content according to logical structure: project background, core requirements, solutions, implementation plan, expected outcomes. Each section had clear page breaks, and key content was even bolded for emphasis.
The overall framework and logic were well-structured. I only needed to adjust the layout, add a few product images, and replace some data with more intuitive charts. The whole process took less than an hour. The presentation the next day went smoothly, and the client expressed satisfaction with how the proposal was presented.
The most practical aspect of this feature is that it can quickly convert meeting discussion content into structured presentation slides, making it especially suitable for scenarios that require rapid production of reporting materials. It is fully compatible with all versions of WPS and Office—ready to use as soon as it's generated, truly saving a significant amount of time.
Comparison of Chinese Speech-to-Text Accuracy: MeetingMinutes vs. Otter — A Real-World Meeting Test
As a product manager at an internet company, weekly meetings take up nearly half…
As a product manager at an internet company, weekly meetings take up nearly half of my working hours. To improve meeting note-taking efficiency, I have tried many recording and transcription tools. Recently, I conducted a comparative test on Chinese transcription accuracy between MeetingMinutes and Otter. Below are my test results.
This test simulated a real office scenario in a standard conference room of approximately 20 square meters. The phone was placed in the center of the conference table, about 3 meters away from the main speaker. The test content was a real product review meeting lasting 32 minutes, with 3 speakers (2 male, 1 female) speaking at a moderate pace in standard Mandarin. The content covered product requirement discussions, KPI reporting, and technical solution reviews.
The test results show that MeetingMinutes achieved a transcription accuracy rate of 98% in standard Mandarin scenarios, with overall recognition performance being highly satisfactory. Its AI filtering function automatically removes common filler words such as "um," "ah," and "like," as well as repetitive expressions and pauses, producing clean and well-structured transcripts that can be copied and used directly without extensive editing.
Otter, as a well-known meeting transcription tool in the international market, achieved a transcription accuracy rate of approximately 92% in this Chinese test. While it performs reasonably well in recognizing everyday vocabulary, there is still room for improvement in recognizing Chinese technical terminology, numerical expressions, and idiomatic expressions. Some sentences also showed deviations in punctuation and semantic understanding.
In terms of user experience, transcripts generated by MeetingMinutes can be directly edited and exported, with an operation flow more aligned with domestic user habits. Otter, on the other hand, is more suitable for English meeting scenarios, with mature English recognition capabilities and cross-device synchronization.
Overall, both products have their own strengths and applicable scenarios. If your work primarily involves Chinese meetings and you value transcription accuracy and transcript quality, MeetingMinutes would be a more suitable choice.
Comparative Test of Meeting Summary Generation: MeetingMinutes vs. DingTalk Flash Notes

Recently, I conducted a comparative test on the core meeting summary generation feature between MeetingMinutes and DingTalk Flash Notes.
For the test, I used a recording of a real department weekly meeting as material, lasting approximately 90 minutes with 5 speakers. The content covered typical meeting scenarios such as project progress updates, problem discussions, and next week's work arrangements. Both tools processed the same audio segment and were compared across three dimensions: generation speed, content quality, and structural completeness.
In terms of generation speed, DingTalk Flash Notes, supported by the DingTalk ecosystem, can quickly generate summaries after transcription is complete, with overall fast processing speed. MeetingMinutes also performs well in generation speed—producing a complete summary for a 90-minute audio in about 10 minutes. There is not much difference in speed between the two.
Regarding content quality, both tools can effectively extract the core content of meetings. MeetingMinutes's summaries are more precise in extracting key data and decision conclusions, automatically filtering out filler words and repetitive expressions, resulting in more concise transcripts. DingTalk Flash Notes' summaries are relatively comprehensive with more detailed records of the discussion process, but there is still room for improvement in the conciseness of key point extraction.
In terms of structural completeness, MeetingMinutes comes with over 50 summary templates, allowing users to select corresponding templates based on meeting types—such as project reviews, interviews, and retrospectives—to generate structured summaries with clear categorization and logical hierarchy. DingTalk Flash Notes' summary structure is relatively standardized, mainly organized by timeline and topics, with relatively fewer template options.
Overall, both tools have their own strengths. If you are already using the DingTalk ecosystem and need basic meeting summary functionality, DingTalk Flash Notes is a convenient choice. If you have higher requirements for the structural level and template variety of summaries, MeetingMinutes's performance will better meet your needs.
